Iceberg What? Yes, an Iceberg House

Would you like to live in an Iceberg House?
No, it is not a cold place without heating made of ice.
Picture an iceberg - bigger under water than above. That is the idea of an Iceberg house. What you see is just a small part of what the house has to offer.
In London (England) one can see (the above ground part only) these homes.
Picture a 2 storey home. One level features the living room, dining room, kitchen and family room. The second level features 4 bedrooms and washrooms.
But what we can’t see is what is happening under such “normal” looking house. There may be 3 levels, wider than the house, below grade. There may be a level with a gym, pool, entertainment space you name it. An elevator bring the cars to lower level. With modern decor and lighting the absent of natural light is overcome.
Would you like to live next to an Iceberg House?
Many Torontonians know how it feels if a new house is built close to them. The noise and dust for the lengths of time it takes to built a house is just very inconvenient. And for those direct neighbours or even 2 doors down a new large house brings changes to day light, sun light and privacy for ever.
So, a home that is larger underground could be of no harm. Or could it?
Could such a home be used as a multi unit rental home in a single family residential area? Could building it, shift the ground and neighbours home?
As with everything new, one has to warm up to the idea and remind our city councillors to look after all of the residences interest.
Keep your eyes an ears open and voice your opinion.
